The Toastmasters Educational Programme - Communication and Leadership tracks
When you become a member of Toastmasters International you will be sent a joining pack. This includes the two manuals to get you started in both tracks: the Competent Communication manual and the Competent Leadership manual.
Members working in this track learn and practice communication skills. The first award is: Competent Communicator award (CC) Requirement
For a list of Competent Communication manual projects see http://d71.org/kb.php?mode=article&k=101 To apply for the Competent Communicator award supply the information required in the Application Form in the Competent Communication manual to a Club Officer who will submit the details online to World Headquarters. If a Club Officer is unable to submit the application online a form can be downloaded here and emailed, faxed or posted to World Headquarters. You will receive a Competent Communicator Certificate and, if you wish, World Headquarters will send your employer a letter about your achievement. If this is your first Competent Communicator award, you will also be sent two Advanced Communication manuals of your choice free of charge. To apply for any of the Advanced Communicator awards supply the information requested in the Application Form in any Advanced Communication manual to a Club Officer who will submit the details online to World Headquarters. If a Club Officer is unable to submit the application online a form can be downloaded here and emailed, faxed or posted to World Headquarters. You will receive an Advanced Communicator certificate and, if you wish, World Headquarters will send a letter to your employer about your achievement.
Members working in this track learn and practice leadership skills by serving in club roles. The first award is: Competent Leader award (CL) Requirement

Activities for the Area, Division or District cannot be counted for CL projects. If a Club Officer is unable to submit the application online a form can be downloaded here and emailed, faxed or posted to World Headquarters. Advanced Leader Silver award (ALS) Requirements

To apply for any of the Advanced Leader awards supply the information required in the appropriate section of the AL/DTM Application Form to a Club Officer who will submit the details online to World Headquarters. If a Club Officer is unable to submit the application online a form can be downloaded here and emailed, faxed or posted to World Headquarters. You will receive an Advanced Leader certificate and, if you wish, World Headquarters will send a letter to your employer about your achievement. Members who have achieved all awards above, in both tracks, are are eligible for the highest award in Toastmasters: Distinguished Toastmaster award (DTM) Requirements
To apply for the Distinguished Toastmaster award supply the information required in the appropriate section of the AL/DTM Application Form to a Club Officer who will submit the details online to World Headquarters. If a Club Officer is unable to submit the application online a form can be downloaded here and emailed, faxed or posted to World Headquarters. You will receive a Distinguished Toastmaster plaque and, if you wish, World Headquarters will send a letter to your employer about your achievement. Other information Repeating awards You can do any award any number of times. For a subsequent DTM - you do not need to do all other awards again, only ACG and AL. For a subsequent ACB, ACS, ACG, ALB or ALS - you do not have to re-do the precedent award requirement/s. (A precedent award requirement is one where 'achieved' is the first word of the requirement.)
For any subsequent award except DTM - all requirements not relating to precedent awards have to be done anew.
Clubs receive credit for only one type of educational award per member per year in the Distinguished Club Programme. (Although of course you will receive credit personally for all awards you have achieved.)
