Description Helpers for new and struggling clubs
Category Efficient Organisation  Type

Sponsors, New Club Mentors and Club Coaches

A Sponsor helps to charter a new club. To be appointed the sponsor's details are entered on the 'Application to Organise' form. Up to two individual members and two clubs can be sponsors. An individual sponsor may be a member of the pre-charter club concerned.

To receive credit, when the club charters the club president must inform WHQ of any sponsor who has fulfilled their role. Upon appointment a sponsor is sent a 'Get Credit!' form for the president to sign for this purpose.

There is training material for sponsors at http://www.toastmasters.org/sponsor_script.aspx

A New Club Mentor helps a club in the period immediately after chartering. To be appointed the mentor's details are entered on the 'Application to Organise' form; if this form had been submitted before the mentors were known it can be re-submitted with the charter papers to include the mentors. Up to two individual members can be mentors. A mentor may be a member of the newly-chartered club concerned.

To receive credit, after the club has been chartered for at least six months (and no longer than twelve months) the club president must inform WHQ of any mentor who has fulfilled their role. Upon appointment a mentor is sent a 'Get Credit!' form for the president to sign for this purpose.

There is training material for mentors at http://www.toastmasters.org/mentor_script.aspx

A Club Coach helps a club which has twelve or fewer paid members to recover and become distingushed. A coach is appointed by the District Governor. Up to two individual members can be coaches. A coach may not be a member of the struggling club concerned at the time of the appointment.

To receive credit, if the club has the status of Distinguished, Select Distinguished or President's Distinguished on the 30th June (Toastmasters year-end) following any coach's appointment the club president must inform WHQ of any coach who has fulfilled their role. Upon appointment a coach is sent a 'Get Credit!' form for the president to sign for this purpose. Please note that the credit is given after the Toastmasters year-end, so this means the coach will not receive credit in the year of appointment.

If the club does not achieve distinguished status on the 30th June following appointment a coach can continue for one more year and receive credit if the club achieves distinguished status on the next 30th June.

There is training material for coaches at http://www.toastmasters.org/coach_script.aspx

Members serving as a sponsor, mentor or coach receive a certificate and credit towards the Advanced Leader Silver award. Members serving as a sponsor or mentor for five (or multiples of five) clubs receive a plaque.
